I started building Leadr when I was 18 years old ultimately rasied $150K from angel investors and hired a team of 5 people.
Leadr was a real world gamified super short form video app that blended elements of Foursquare, Pokemon Go, and TikTok. Users would pick up points to compete against friends and the whole world for exposure on geo targeted and activity based leaderboards.
Building Leadr was the greatest learning experience of my life. I had zero experience and zero industry contacts when I started, so I made every single mistake. I hired outsourced developers that wasted $75K and built an overly complex product with no viral loop. Ultimately, after multiple rebuilds we had a product ready for the market in March 20, just as the first COVID-19 lockdown began.
